If you love entertaining, you will throughly enjoy trying to play the guitar.   There’s nothing better than performing in front of your friends and family by playing their favorite guitar songs.  Unfortunately, it is not easy to learn guitar for beginners especially if you don’t have anyone to teach you.  There are many who have tried to learn the guitar and failed to learn enough to play the easiest guitar songs.  They get frustrated easily, and then they quit.

To learn the guitar requires you to master the basics.  First off, you will need to figure out how to tune your guitar, otherwise every note you play will sound horrible.  Without tuning your guitar on a regular basis, your strings will become stretched and sound distorted.  The standard tuning for a guitar is E-A-D-G-B-E.  While there are other tuning you can use, it is a good idea learn this one first.

Once your guitar is in tune, you can start playing some notes with it.  To play a note, pick a string and push down to the neck at one of the frets with one finger, and pluck at the string with the finger on your other hand.  Experiment with different frets on the same string. Congratulations, you are playing the guitar.

Now that you have the ability to play a few notes, the next step is to figure out how to play some basic chords.  Using a guitar chord chart, try to find a few chords that you can play.  It will take some time to train your fingers to play chords properly, but don’t get frustrated.  You will get the hang of them, and eventually you will be able to transition between different chords effortlessly.

It may become a little boring learning these simple notes and chords.  Nothing will get you more excited about playing the guitar than being able to play your first song.  To accomplish this, we are going to look for some guitar tabs to play.  Guitar tabs allow you to play songs without the ability to read sheet music and you can find guitar tabs for almost any song imaginable.  The tabs are basically a diagram that displays the 6 strings of the guitar along with numbers that represent the fret you should press for each note.  Just pick a simple guitar tab to learn and practice it until it becomes natural for you to play.  Take your time, and you will be playing the song in no time.  Although there is still much to learn, you are now on your way to learning to play the guitar.

I agree, i guess the basics of learning the guitar for the first time is to keep practicing, and keep learning. Maybe ask guitarists for tips as well. finding someone to jam with is also a real bonus.
