Is Taking Online Guitar Classes For Classical Guitar The Right Choice For You?

The world wide web has become the biggest teacher of new guitar players, and the internet is not a big proponent of the classical genre. This is unfortunate as classical guitar is very rewarding when well done. The talent required to play classical guitar takes years to hone, but results in some amazing sounds.

So is looking to the internet for classical guitar classes a good idea?

Material for other guitar genre’s is all over the internet. What’s surprising is how hard it is to find good information on classical guitar, let alone find good classes to learn from!

I’m not trying to say that the guitar can not be learned on-line. And the internet can be a great part of learning classical guitar in addition to your lessons; but it is not a replacement for good old fashioned music lessons or guitar classes held by an instructor.

A teacher can impart on you the passions behind classical guitar. The tabs that are found online can trap you in boring and impassive music.

I don’t having anything personal against tabs, but they don’t carry the same quality of sheet music. Sheet music shows you exactly how the piece was originally played so that you can recreate it with 100% accuracy, this is essential for classical music.

rock guitar is based around a general chord sequence; classical music on the other hand needs to be played with great precision.

So what point am I trying to get across?

My message I guess is a generic tip. The internet is a useful resource to learn guitar, but be careful. But, and this is important, unless you’re certain of the course you discovered on the internet and you’re absolutely certain the information it is teaching is 100% true, then you should find a conventional guitar instructor to teach you the classical guitar.

Of course I could be wrong. I know that online courses are inexpensive and very popular.

But personally I am happy to pay a modest amount of money for a greater rate of quality, as I could certainly not settle for being a B class guitarist. electric guitar though is a different story; there are some great classes on the internet for electric guitar. Two that I would recommend looking into are Jamorama and Music Master Pro for good guitar classes.

Of the junk I have seen on the internet, these two courses hold a lot of promise particularly for beginners. The basics that you need can be quickly learned with the information and practice steps found in Jamorama. However, with a little practice you may find a previously unknown talent for music; should this be the case then you really need to find a guitar teacher to improve your skill.
