Would you like to learn how to play the electric guitar? For many it is their dream to become one of the best guitar players there is. For this article we will be looking into how to play the electric guitar properly.

It's too bad that when you first start to learn how to play it can be boring. Most people will find that it will take allot of time learning those basic notes, basic strings, and learning how to hold their new guitar in the right way. This means your going to need to keep the passion going if you want to get good. The exciting stuff won’t come till later on. So make the dedication to never give up on it before you even start to learn.

The next thing you need to decide is how you want to learn. It is possible to learn guitar by ear, by watching DVDs, and from a good instructor. I myself like learning from ear. It suits my personality and you can always go back to learn some of that music theory stuff later on if you want too.

Playing guitar will always come down to being creative with the instrument Once you learn how to play you can do just about anything you want with that instrument. This is why it is very important for you to listen to lots and lots of music. If you want to play metal, then you better listen to lots of it. Good musicians will often use other peoples music as an influence of there own.

Make sure you look into what the different parts of the guitar are and what those parts actually do. You don’t want to be one of those people who can play a little guitar, but don’t even know what most of the parts are. Learn what those important frets are, what the tunning pegs are, and what a pickup switch is. Get familiar with that lingo and find out what it actually does.

From this point on the rest will be up to you. Figure out where you want to go with this guitar. Find out what the best way to learn guitar is for you. Before you know is you may be one the best guitarist around.
